Hi Mike, good to have you back, great work on the podcast (you need to do something about your audio levels though!) … and get rid of the Garmin, buy a Polar RS800sd with GPS … they are one seriously nice looking watch … those Garmins remind me of the first mobile phones – a brick on your wrist!
Yes Brendan Ive not seen the Polar post the link. Garmin however is a great User of Adobe Technology. They have a great site all built with Adobe gear. http://www.garmin.com/ check it out bro. I recorded the sound toooooo low this time but next time I will fix it I promise. Thanks for the feedback.
are you able to give me a little more info on the ‘Deep Dive’ seminar (PS CS3 for Beginners) please? I’m new to Photoshop but would like to know a bit more about the day’s syallabus before I commit to it ($150 is a lot of money to me). Also, will there be any ‘hands-on’ component during the day?
I feel a bit uncomfortable saying this but feel you would appreciate an honest opinion… on the “Photoshop Editing Video (No. 37)” you appear to be looking somewhere else, not at the viewer. That bit where you say “talk to you guys” then point off screen is the worst. Up until then you were mainly looking into the camera (ie. at the viewer) which worked well in developing a feeling of ‘direct conversation’ with the viewer but you go and point out of shot to what appears to be someone else. Just point straight down the camera lens (even if it is just a web cam!).
After the pointing bit you seemed to be looking elsewhere (at a script or the monitor maybe?) It was a bit disconcerting because your personal style of addressing the audience directly did not match your line of vision. It seems to be a small point but, when people speak to someone face to face where do they generally look – at the eyes.
When the person one is addressing looks elsewhere mainstream societal values suggest the person is either uninterested, distracted or has something to hide. It undoes all the good work of your friendly, personal, informal manner of speech and other positive ‘body language’.
I hope I haven’t offended you by my comments. I’m the type of person who can’t seem to create but is critical of others – a ‘Monday Morning Expert’. Please disregard all the above if you feel like it but don’t disregard my questions about the seminar (Tuesday’s beginner program).
Hey Jon
No mate, not offended at all. I must say Im a bit of a novice when it comes to on camera work, so any advice is taken advantage of. However I have never worked from a tight script, and did mean to point at the camera but discovered I was a little close and didn’t want a big Finger print on it !
Have a look at the link to the Photoshop Deep dives above.
Hi Mike, Great seminar in Perth, hope that they let you come back again soon. I also hope that you are enjoying my book.
I don’t s’pose you could send me the moves on how you merged that Lightning shot, or maybe if you have it on here somewhere, a link? I can’t for the life of me translate my own notes.
Cheers,
Bob.

It’s great to know what software is behind companies websites (they should tell us!), and that is a nice site … here’s the URL for the Polar RS800G3 http://www.pursuit-performance.com.au/polar/html/segments/Running/RS800G3.html; and also a link to the adidas/polar site … this is a nice site … http://www.adidas-polar.com/phase5/index.html …
